Before becoming a part of MBLAQ, Seungho won a couple of children singing contests. He also featured in Gray Sky by Lee Hyun Jung for Banolim  OST back in 2006 and also apperead as a cameo in the same drama.

Seung Ho was born in Seoul but raised in Anyang, Gyeonggi, South Korea, where he attended Anyang High School of Arts. He was School Captain and his Class's President during his time there. After high school, he enrolled at Sejong University Film Arts but left due to MBLAQ's schedule and now attends Kyung Hee Cyber University. Seung Ho has a younger brother.

Seung Ho is the only member in the group who uses his real name; his stage name was originally intended to be 'Mir' but he rejected it. Considered to be a man of many talents, his hobbies include playing the guitar and the piano (for which MBLAQ's fans gave him the nickname Yang Chopin). Other hobbies include playing soccer, beatboxing, break dancing, performing card tricks, knitting, and mending objects. Seungho has also taken classes in gymnastics, Judo, and Hapkido, whilst his favourite genre of music is electronic. He was the first member of the group to open a Twitter page and Me2day account.

Seungho and Soyeon from T-ara attended the same high school and are known to be good friends. He also knew Gyuri from Kara and Jinon from F.Cuz in his junior years.
